Garden Fencing

The type of garden fencing installed by Exterior Worlds is not the typical readymade fence you buy in a garden store.  This type of structure is basically a mesh that encloses a vegetable garden completely so that rabbits, raccoons, opossums, and other wildlife cannot make an easy meal of food crops.

The problem with this type of fence is that it creates an eyesore that instantly diminishes the curb appeal of a property.  If you have invested in professional c, or have any intentions of doing so, it is much better to have your fence built as one of many customized elements of your landscape design plan.

Regardless of whether or not the ultimate purpose of the fence is to protect sensitive plant species from wildlife, or to simply add additional dimension to the garden, custom fences are guaranteed to contribute to the ultimate success of a landscape by directly complimenting other structures such as garden pergolas, gazebos, arbors, patios, and masonry.

The most popular materials for garden fencing are wood, bamboo, and wrought iron.  Each of these materials contributes specific advantages and aesthetics the landscape design plan.  Determining which material is best for your garden is based on a balance between the architecture of your house, the nature of your garden itself, and the type of garden décor that ornaments your softscape design.

The most common type of metal used to build fences is wrought iron.  Wrought iron is ideal for garden decor because it works with so many different types of landscaping styles.  For example, a simple wrought iron fence around the garden can initiate a theme of wrought iron landscaping that spans the entire property.  Trellises, patios with wrought iron furniture, a wrought iron arbor, and a wrought iron fence can create an entire aesthetic using the same basic material shaped into different forms.

One noticeable advantage wrought iron fences offer is their ability to support a range of architectural themes as well as landscaping designs.  Depending on the nature of the iron work, wrought iron can be made to look very rustic, or it can be rendered very formal in style and be used to adorn the largest of Old World mansions on sprawling estates.

Bamboo is another popular material that is used in the construction of garden fencing.  Its primary application lies in ornamenting Asian gardens and tropical gardens.  Bamboo is actually one of the toughest and most versatile natural materials in the world, which is why it is used for so many different purposes in the Pacific Islands and Far East.  In a landscape master plan built around strong Asian themes or tropical garden design, bamboo will lend an element of authenticity like nothing else can.

Wood garden fencing is frequently used to blend the practical and the decorative.  Wood can complement natural landscapes, small cottages, patio homes, and single family wooden houses.  A simple lattice work design at the bottom of the fence is all that is needed to block ground level entry to the garden.  At the same time, it works to compliment the decorative designs that adorn adjacent gazebos, wood decks, pergolas, and yard fences.
